Chancellor

Lore

Leader of Exilium Society. This man is often called the Wicker King, or beggar chief by rival kingdoms still clinging to feudalism and tribalism. The position is held for life and is voted in by all members of Exilium in a grand election upon the resignation or death of the current Chancellor. The current Chancellor is Bendare Drahl, the creator of the current Exilium Government. At the governments beginning, the society of Exilium is very poor, nomadic, and starving. Chancellor Drahl has ordered all Exilium members to do what is necissary to survive. Many members have taken this to heart and become outlaws, renegades, and thieves. Such is the way nations are born.

Mechanics

  1. The Chancellor, as leader of Exilium, has the authority to appoint his own Captain and Warden of Exilium at will.

  2. The Chancellor of Exilium is the head of the judiciary in this society and oversees all judicial proceedings including appeals, member trials, and so forth.

  3. The Chancellor of Exilium is the head of Exilium's government and the clan Leader.

  4. The Chancellor of Exilium has full pardon rights. This means that if a crime or code of conduct violation occurs, the Chancellor may pardon the crime completely.

  5. The Chancellor of Exilium acts as Consul during all Council Meetings. This means he and he alone introduces the meeting's agenda, what rules may be voted on, and so forth.

  6. The Chancellor of Exilium has full veto rights during all Council Meetings. He may veto any decision the Council makes, but does not have the authority to replace it or change the decision. He may only veto it and cause it to not occur.

Officer Ranks

  1. Captain - Leader of the Exilium Military

  2. Warden of Exilium - Leader of the Special forces and Rangers

  3. Secretary - Leader of the Crafter's Union

  4. Emissary - In charge of foreign affairs, diplomacy, guild relations

  5. Councilman - Chosen by Exilium's population, via election, to represent them. The number of Councilman allowed are dependant on Exilium's total member numbers and at the discretion of Exilium's Leader. Councilmen serve one month and then are up for re-election. They may serve unlimited terms.
Mechanics

The officers of Exilium have dedicated jobs and spheres of influence. For instance, the Secretary would not dream of interfering in military affairs. This is not to say that such does not occur from time to time when money changes hands in dark rooms. But for the most part, corruption aside, each officer will handle their own affairs and report directly to the Leader of Exilium.

  1. Council meetings can be called by any member of the Exilium officership. All officers; councilmen, Captain, Warden, Secretary, and Leader are required to attend.

  2. Most major issues are voted on by the Officers.

  3. Exilium leader has the right to veto any decision made by the Officers, but cannot inact law or policy without a vote.

  4. Exilium's Leader functions much like the consul of the Roman Republic. He and he alone may introduce each council meeting's agenda. Laws or policy that need to be voted on may only be introduced in the agenda by him. If he does not introduce it, it cannot be voted on.

  5. Regardless of decisions made in Officer Meetings, all officers must appear as one mind and one body outside of Coucil meetings. This means any decisions made by the Council will be supported by ALL officers in public. Failure to do this will result in immediate impeachment procedures.

  6. The rank of Captain and Warden are chosen by Exilium's Leader at will and may be replaced at will.

  7. The Rank of Secretary is voted on by Union members.

  8. The Rank of councilman is voted on by all members of Exilium.

  9. Emissary is another position voted on by Exilium members. The Emissary can be replaced if the Chancellor calls for a new Emissary or if the people of Exilium wish to appoint a new one via election. Emissaries serve for life unless replaced by election.
Crafter's Union

Lore

Often called the "Lords of Exilium", but not in earshot of Exilium's true leadership. The Crafter's Union secretly runs all Exilium affairs out of their capital city or controlled areas. Though Exilium is regarded as a free society where every man is equal, in all actuality, the Crafter's Union members are more like nobles. They are the wealthiest members of Exilium's society, the upper class. They are also the most educated. Though they are not always warriors, they are certainly more powerful in many ways. The Crafter's Union controls the purse strings of this budding nation. Many of the Crafter's Union members sit on the Leadership Council. Rather they purchased these positions or not, is often debated. The Leader of the Crafter's Union, called the secretary, is often rumored to be the most powerful man/woman in Exilium society next to the leader himself. If not the most powerful, most certainly the wealthiest.

Mechanics

Functioning like a true Union, the Crafter's Union pools all of it's resources together to make sure all of it's members have everything they need to stay in business, monopolize the market, and keep Exilium wealthy and equiped.

  1. Members of the Crafter's Union are those who focus heavily on crafting and market play. They are chosen by the Union Secretary from the Free-Man rank.

  2. All Union members must give all of their resources, crafting profits, at all times, to the union. The Union will hand out whatever resources are needed to individual crafters to make sure maximum profits are obtained.

  3. Members of the Union will recieve an monthly salary using in game currency, paid by the Union's treasury. This salary will be percentage based and based upon that month's profits. If the Union makes lots of money, the salary will increase.

  4. All guild merchandise, city material, or building material must be built by Union members - no exceptions. Free-Man who refuse to join the Union are often looked upon with disdain by Union members. Though, as expected, much business is done behind closed doors by non-Union members..this is known as the Black Market.

  5. The secretary of the Union is voted in by union members. If union members feel their current secretary is not making enough profits (thus limiting the monthly salary of union members), they may call for a election to choose another.

  6. There must be a minimum of five members of the Union in Exilium in order for a secretary to be chosen or for the union to function.

The Immortals

"Lo do I see the blue sea before me. The sound of waves crashing on rock fill my thoughts as I am led to the water's edge. On either side of me stands a friend, priests of Melek - devotees to an old god. They walk me into the waters, the cool ocean waves enveloping me like a loving mother. I take deep breaths of the water, filling my lungs. The pain is unbearable as I sink, clutching my chest as it burns from the lack of oxygen. A sinking feeling comes over me as the light begins to dim. I am drowning...darkness consumes me. But it is not the end...there is light ahead....I am immortal."

Lore

The Immortals are men and women who give their lives to the sea. They undergo a ritual whereby they drown themselves as priests of Melek recite ancient spells to bring them back. It is unknown exactly how this magic works. It is also unknown if it is necromancy or divine magic. Thousands of men and women have walked into the sea as part of this ritual, but only ten have survived in the centuries it has been practiced. They are rumored to be unkillable, merciless fighters with no soul - having given their soul to the sea. These ten are Immortals. Will there be more? Only time will tell.

Mechanics
  1. The Immortals is an advanced military rank similar to the Saew'et rank of Hand of Set. It is held by the top pvpers in Exilium.

  2. The Immortal rank cannot be applied for. If you are deserving of such a rank, you will be given it.

  3. The Immortals are required to spend a minimum of 50 hours a week playing. Obviously real life can interfere and vacations or time off is allowed if the Immortal lets folks know he/she will be gone for a few days. Immortals who do not meet the minimum 50 hours a week and do not let their superiors know why they are not online will lose their rank.

  4. Immortals who lose their rank due to behavior, code of conduct violations, or inactivity will NEVER again be eligible for the rank. It cannot be earned back. (Clarification: If you resign your position as an Immortal due to real life, you may take the rank again at a later time. But if you are Fired/sacked from the position, you cannot reclaim it ever again)

  5. The Immortals promote their own leaders from within their squad. They are immune to most code of conduct rules (save the activity rules) and do not report to any officer other then their own leaders and the Chancellor.

  6. An Immortal cannot be put on trial for code of conduct violations. They are above the law. It is up to their own squad leaders to discipline them if needed. But how do you control/discipline an immortal? Obviously the Chancellor can step in and take action against an immortal if need be - assuming he is strong enough.

  7. Immortals, like Rangers, are equiped in the best gear Exilium has to offer. They do not pay for their gear.

  8. Immortals should have no equal in the world. Only the very best pvpers will have this position. The lore says only ten men ever made Immortal rank. Who are they? We do not know and they have been lost throughout time...perhaps there will be more if you prove yourself. I do not expect more then 5-10 people to hold this rank.

  9. If an immortal is in a pvp group, he/she runs the pvp group..no exceptions unless the Warden of Exilium or the Captain is present.

  10. Immortals are rumored to have no soul, no emotion, and no regret. As such, crossing one rather you are a guildie or not is not well advised. They may slay you, burn down your house, and destroy all that you know with no consequence. Members of Exilium should fear and honor such creatures.

Ranger

Lore

Rangers are full members of Exilium's military with a specialty in scouting, espionage, and hit and run techniques. Rangers are feared in Exilium society as men/women who see all. Fathers in Exilium society all dream of their strong sons becoming Rangers of Exilium, traveling the darkest and most dangerious places in the world, to protect their community. Rangers rarely travel in groups or with the army. They tend to be loners, special forces, sent out to protect Exilium. Rangers are ghosts and shadows, rarely seen by the enemy except when they strike. The Head Ranger is called the Warden of Exilium. This man/woman reports only to the Guild Leader, is treated as an Officer of Exilium's Military, and is in charge of giving out orders to his/her Rangers.

Mechanics

Rangers are the scouting, solo elite of Exilium. They need not depend on anyone to get their job done. Often, Rangers will be sent into enemy lands to discover the location of forces, location of targets, or possibly on snatch and grab missions. They often travel alone, but are also known to travel in groups of two or three in extreme circumstances.

  1. Rangers have full access to all safehouses, city military functions, and stash holes. In many circumstances, it's the rangers themselves who establish these.

  2. Rangers are led by the Warden of Exilium, a military officer in charge of the Rangers.

  3. The best and brightest of the Bandits may end up being a Ranger. Rangers are chosen for their intelligence, cunning, and quick reaction time. They must be experts in hit and run tactics, scouting, and silent movement. Rangers must possess an inordinate amount of patience. Only the very best of the Bandits will achieve the Ranger rank.

  4. Rangers are given the very best and lightest equipment the Crafter's union can make. They are equiped for speed, maneuverability, and escape.
Waylayer

Lore

Waylayers are the standard military rank for Exilium's military. They have passed their bandit training and are full members of the military. Waylayers possess a certain combination of finess, strength, patience, and cunning which allows them to serve Exilium's community in a defensive or offensive manner. Many Waylayers protect Exilium's community by guarding it's safehouses, it's cities, and it's land. Other Waylayers will leave Exilium lands in large contingencies and invade other lands for profit, survival, and loot.

Mechanics

Waylayers are the standard military rank of Exilium's community. Though they are by no means special, they are respected in the community as soldiers and defenders of Exilium. Waylayers are commanded by their Captain, a rank held by the leader of Exilium's military.

  1. Waylayers have access to a majority of Exilium's safehouses, stash holes, and city functions. They may not, however, have access to the more secret safehouses reserved by the Rangers.

  2. Waylayers are given better then average gear by the Crafter's union.

  3. Waylayers are required to report to duty whenever war is declared. Waylayers are the bulk of Exilium's military.

  4. Waylayers are commanded by the Captain of Exilium's military forces (the military officer).

  5. Bandits are promoted to Waylayer unless they show extraordinary abilities.

  6. Waylayers guard Exilium's city, safehouses, and borders at all time. Waylayers travel in large groups when on missions.
Bandit

Lore

Bandits are the lowest ranking military members of Exilium. Bandits have volunteered or been drafted for military services from the Free-Man community. These members are in training to become better defenders and protectors of Exilium society. All Military members must serve time and train as a bandit before moving up in the hierarchy of Exilium.

Mechanics

Bandits will have many duties in Exilium society. First and foremost, they are in training. Bandits will be sent out, under the supervision of a military officer, to plunder and steal from Exilium's rivals. They do this not only to hone their skills, but to provide for Exilium's community. Bandits are being taught the art of killing and survival in the harsh world of Darkfall.

  1. Bandits, as military recruits, will have more access then members holding the Free-Man rank. They will know the location of many of the secret safehouses (As bandits will be responsible for guarding safehouses and stash points).

  2. Bandits are taught the way of murder, espionage, thievery, and survival by Exilium's highest ranking military members.

  3. Bandits will be *required* to perform certain duties like safehouse guarding, patrols, and training lessons. Bandits who fail to show for these duties are disregard orders issued by higher ranking military officers will be removed from their rank and will be *INELIGIBLE* for services in Exilium's military for the remainder of their lifetime with us. Bandits who step down honorably may have another shot in 30 days (those who step down for RL reasons, etc).

  4. Bandits will be provided with rudimentary equipment by the Crafter's union of Exilium.
Free-man

Lore

Free-man have moved up in the ranks of Exilium. They are no longer considered Drifters and strangers in our community. They are accepted as one of ours. Drifters who roam into Exilium territory and join our community will eventually become part of it, assuming we don't kill them. These select few are now free of whatever bonds caused them to flee their homeland. They are free men and women. Exilium believes that all men and women are equal according to natural law. Free men and women will be treated as such. They are citizens of Exilium, members of our community, and our brothers and sisters.

Mechanics

Those who hold the Free-man rank enjoy all the benefits and freedom of a full member of Exilium's community. They have become full vested into our community. This rank is the first full member rank and will be the rank that the vast majority of Exilium members hold.

  1. Members who hold this rank cannot be removed from the community/clan without a full trial by their peers. They can, however, be suspended from the community by the leader for a period not to exceed one week.

  2. Members who hold this rank have general access to all safehouses, stash holds, and city functions. Though they may not have access to certain "secret" safehouses.

  3. Killing a Free-Man is a crime in Exilium society. This crime is punishable by exile/death. (OOC: Members of Exilium who murder a Free-Man will be hunted down, killed, and kicked from the guild - along with being placed on KOS).

  4. People holding this rank have full voting privledges in all Exilium elections, polls, policy decisions.

  5. Members holding the Free-Man rank are the only members allowed to serve in the Exilium military. They may volunteer for military ranks.
Drifter

Lore

Applicants to Exilium will hold the rank of Drifter. Typically Drifters are as their name applies. These are folks who have been outcast or exiled, or in some cases simply left of their own free will, from their kingdoms and homelands. They have drifted into Exilium territory seeking a new life..a better life.

Exilium offers Drifters a chance at a brand new beginning. Some will be convicts, murderers, thieves, widows, or folks looking for adventure. One thing they all have in common is they are looking for a fresh start and a new life.

Mechanics

Applicants to Exilium do not enjoy the basic rights of Exilium's full members. As this rank is for new members or "trial" members, they have limited access to our resources, limited rights, and limited respect.

  1. Drifters cannot vote in guild decisions. As Exilium is a band of outcasts and exiles, a semi-democratic society is being setup. Many issues are voted on by members of the Exilium community. Drifters may not vote in these decisions.

  2. Drifters may be removed from the Exilium community at will by an officer or leader without reason.

  3. Drifters will have limited access to Exilium resources including safehouse locations, city, various stash locations, etc.

  4. Drifters *will* obey all instructions given to them by full Exilium community members. Drifters are not slaves, however. They came here for a new life, a new beginning away from slavery and serfdom. But they must pass basic trials to earn their membership. These trials will be basic in nature.

  5. OOC: Drifters must be in ventrilo at ALL times while online. No exceptions. Drifters whom are online and not in ventrilo will be killed unless a valid excuse is provided.
